A FINE MARQUETERY WOOD AMEUBLEMENT

Syria, 19th c.
H. 82 - 105 cm/ 82 x 84 x 43 cm
The ameublement consists of a pair of armchairs, a pair of folding chairs and a gaming table with a separate tabletop. The surfaces of the furniture all over decorated with oriental, partly star-shaped patterns in different coloured woods, mother-of-pearl and bone, inlaid in marquetry technique. Both backs of the folding chairs with a cartouche containing Arabic lettering inlaid in bone.
